I'm a writer and short documentary filmmaker whose articles and videos have been featured in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Tablet Magazine, and Salon.com.

I received my BA in religious studies from Yale University and an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia University. By day I'm in communications with The University of Texas System Office of Population Health.

I live in Austin, Texas, with my wife, historian and psychotherapist Jessica Grogan, and my kids Jolie (9), Asa (6), and Gideon (O).

Exit Right, which was published in February 2016 by Simon &  Schuster, is my first book.
